About Hypatia STEM Academy

Hypatia STEM Academy provides structured online science courses designed for homeschool students who want a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.

Our courses emphasize clear explanations, active participation, and logical reasoning. Students learn to analyze scientific ideas, apply concepts to new problems, and develop confidence in their ability to think scientifically.

Classes are designed to be academically rigorous while remaining accessible to motivated students. Through discussion, collaborative problem solving, and guided practice, students build a strong foundation for future science study.

Teaching Philosophy

Science is best learned through understanding, not memorization.

Courses at Hypatia STEM Academy focus on helping students develop the habits of mind used by scientists: asking questions, examining evidence, and applying logical reasoning to new situations.

Classes combine short lectures with collaborative problem solving so students can immediately apply the concepts they are learning. Students work through problems together and discuss their reasoning with guidance from the instructor.

Assignments and occasional quizzes reinforce learning outside of class and help students monitor their progress.

Small Collaborative Classes

Classes are intentionally small so students can participate actively and receive individual feedback.

Middle school classes include up to 10 students.
High school classes include approximately 10–15 students.

This structure allows students to ask questions, share ideas, and develop confidence in solving scientific problems.

Who the Courses Are For

Hypatia STEM Academy serves students who:

• want structured science instruction beyond a textbook
• enjoy asking questions about how the natural world works
• benefit from discussion and guided problem solving
• are preparing for high school or college-preparatory science

Students from both homeschool and traditional school backgrounds are welcome.

Enrollment

Courses meet live once each week and run for a full semester.

Enrollment and payment are handled through the Outschool platform, which provides a secure system for scheduling and registration.
